Stealing blankets
It appears a rumor has been spreading that I steal blankets.

This is the sort of thing that, if it gets around, can seriously damage a guy's reputation. I wish to put a stop to it right now. It is intolerable to me that people who might consider sharing my bed would get the idea that I'm the sort of thug who just goes in and casually takes any blanket he might fancy. Let me set the record straight.

I do not steal blankets. Ever. Stealing blankets is low and undignified. I might, sometimes, borrow them until morning, but I do not steal them.

On the other hand, I do steal pillows. I take this very seriously. I do not simply reach over and snag a pillow from someone who happens to be in the same bed as me--that has no class whatsoever. When I decide to go after a pillow, it sometimes takes months of planning.

First of all, there is selection of the pillow; what value would there be in taking a pillow with no bounce, or one that didn't yield properly? I research very carefully before selecting the pillow to be stolen.

I have the fence lined up before I ever make a move--what is the point of stealing the pillow if you can't unload it at a good profit? Then, of course, there is making sure and double sure of my entry and egress. I want to know that if, say, a dog wakes up at the wrong moment, he won't even get a glimpse of my face..

As for the theft itself, well, the less said about that the better; we all have our trade secrets. Rest assured (a little joke there) that if I've decided on your pillow, you may as well call your insurance company right now and start looking for replacement value. There has never been a pillow alarm system made that can keep me out.

Sweet dreams.

I'll have to tell my husband that the Monster Under the Bed just confessed. And here all this time we thought it was the cat.

I am such a notorious blanket stealer that my fiance and I have separate blankets. This still doesn't always work, because I have a habit of throwing my blanket on the floor in the night when I get overheated. Then I get cold. And the nearest blanket is my fiance's, so I steal his. And then get overheated. And throw his blanket on the floor. Poor guy then has to get up, walk around the bed, retrieve his blanket, and go back to sleep.

My husband and I are the Bonnie and Clyde of blanket thieves. We start out both under 2 blankets, in the morning, we each have our own blanket. But he's the pillow thief, and now I know his secrets...Bwuahahahahaha!

I'm getting out needle and thread to sew GPS locators into all my pillows...I wondered where the hell they kept wandering off to.

I wonder if a pillow thief would be thwarted by pillows held down by duct-tape?

Any brave soul who learns the answer would be a great person. Might cut down on pillow fights too.

The bedding rustler in this house is in deep denial, poor man. Perhaps it was those days being without his bird that warped him... Hours without hearing a "Hi, Doc!" can do that to some.

According to some people, I'm a "borrower" too. I've never stolen a pillow before, but I guard my own with my life!

Blankets! Who needs blankets? I just roll over and snuggle up to the heat source next to me if I get cold thereby eliminating all need to steal blankets, or pillows. You'll get nothing from me!

I steal blankets. I hold onto them in my sleep, lest they be wrested from me and I wake up cold and blanket-deprived.

If there are multiple blankets, sometimes I will wake up in the morning, and one of them will be rotated ninety degrees with respect to the others. Generally one of the ones in the middle of the stack. This has been a randomly occurring event for most of my life, and I've never figured out how or why.

*giggle* This morning as I was making the bed I told [info]unixronin I told him I was stealing some of his blankets and he told me that was quite alright (this would be because the left side of the bed (as one is sleeping in it) has more gravity and blankets just drift to that side during the night (I note that I sleep on the right side of the bed.))

I was going to refrain from commenting on the grounds that this thread had 17 comments in it when I saw it, but what the hell. That's as good a reason as any for an otherwise totally pointless comment.

You know, Steven, me too. I am convinced that it is due to this similarity in our kleptomanic tendencies re. pillows that my wife had begun stockpiling pillows in pillowcases on the floor near her side of the bed. At last count, we had five pillows held in reserve for those particularly nasty nights where I fling pillows about the room.

Also, your post is proof that Kiera CAN carry a story, and that Vlad made a poor career choice.

Anyone threatening my blankets will have a fight on their hands, as I hold them tightly.

But my pillows -- that's a serious matter. Anyone attempting to abscond with my pillows has put their life on the line. Or at least my friendship.

I can assure all of you, from first hand experience, that Mr Brust does not steal blankets.
He is a sharing and thoughtful lover. Never one to go around thieving a persons sleeping gear.
I have slept with him many times and have never lost my slumber devices.
I did however lose any sign of innocence I could have ever prayed to hold on to.
I fell dirty.
Why didnt you call?
Was it something I said?
WHY WHY WHY!!!!!?
