Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Been busy, lately
Your friends are out, but you're at home
Making desert into loam
Your eyes glaze, your body shakes
Another shield your grassland makes

Corruption hurts efficiency
Better try Democracy.
Workers build, the people feed
Find some food so they can breed.

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the call, oh yea.
And you'll go to bed when you've built the Great Wall, you know you're
Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to Civ.

You've lost the power of thought and speech
The iron ore is out of reach
The horses run at double time
Upgrade to muskets and you'll be fine

You must save face
Don't let the French be first in Space
Bed calls but its no use
Until you can make that bank produce

Whoa, you like to think that your will is completely free, oh yea.
And you'll stop when you've built the Observatory, you know you're
Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to Civ.

Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ

Your friends are out, but you're at home
Making desert into loam
You'll eat some bread and cheese
After two more technologies
Whoa, you like to think that you do it for fun, oh yea.
But you can't stop till the Hoover Dam is done, you know you're
Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to Civ.

Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ
Might as well face it you're addicted to Civ

That an original filk?

If so, that's really good man. You should be a writer.

Zing!

On a serious note though... have you tried the Civ4 expansion? Warlords was pretty cool.

I tend to use Civ 4 to appease my otherwise rampant meglomaniacal tendencies.

I think Iain Banks posted in his blog he lost the best part of a working year to civ before he finally ritually broke the disk.

My hero.

People always write songs about eternal verities, of course they do, it's a human thing, but how rarely one comes across a song about a new eternal verity that has never been celebrated that way before!

I liked this so much I almost woke rysmiel, who will like it even more, as I get to hear "I'm coming to bed after I finish building the Pyramids" even more often than I say it.

Try Civ 4 beyond the sword. Politics and political relations mean even more.
I even have my kids addicted to it.

Good song.

Saw this via [info]papersky - decided a LONG time ago I would never get into Civ - played the board game with some friends and took 12 hours or so to reach a conclusion, when I saw the first release of the computer game I remembere that, and the months (literally) I wasted on Sim City, and just said no.

There's probably an addiction program for program addicts somewhere...

I thank you, and Sid Meier (and the folks who made the original board game) thanks you. This reminds me of my friend's tale of the Panzervanians, a legendary culture who overcame their terrible cultural phobia of horses to develop tracked, armored vehicles to combat the ruthless charioteers, cavalry, and knights of their enemies. (True story; he evidently skipped those three units completely during a game of Civ, and went straight to tanks in somewhere around the 17th Century.)

Brilliant. The only reason I've recovered from my Civ addiction is that I don't have my own computer anymore and I don't have administrator privileges to install it on my work computer...(don't even get my started on that)

(then again, they have a point, I'd be way tempted to play at work if I had it...)
